Dr. Kenneth Augustus Walker is a native of Washington, Georgia where he was raised by his later grandmother, Mrs. Bessie Mae Hayes. After graduating from Washington, Wilkes Comprehensive High School, Dr. Walker furthered his education on the campuses of Paine College, Morehouse School of Religion, Harvard and Yale Universities and he completed online work at Cornell University during Covid-19.
Dr. Walker has had a long and storied career in Georgia politics including becoming the first Chief of Staff for Georgia’s and the South’s first and only State Senate Majority Leader, first Executive Assistant appointed to the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority’s Chairman and the first Executive Assistant to a Georgia Lieutenant Governor. Augustus’ focus was on healthcare, transportation, reapportionment, appropriation , education and community based grants.
Transitioning from state government, Dr. Walker launch The Augustus Group where he represents builders and developers across metropolitan Atlanta, provides leadership training and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion training for local metropolitan governments.
Dr. Walker’s community work includes leading a group of volunteer on a monthly basis to Clarkston, Georgia to provide life essentials to African, Afghan and Syrian immigrants in hopes of giving them opportunities for a better life.
